Next Stop: Mexico

Bon Voyage! I’m off to Mexico and it couldn’t come at a better time. School’s out for Spring Break, so we are hitting up the sunny beaches of the Riviera Maya to soak up that Vitamin D (lathered in sunscreen and hats, of course!). So Mexico here we come… but not without a major dose of packing anxiety first

Packing is up there as one of my least favorite things to do. I’m usually up in the wee hours of the night, my apartment looking like the aftermath of a tornado as I stuff random outfits into my suitcase, leaving the suitcase too full to close.  It’s not a pretty sight.

So what’s a gal to do?  Along the way, I’ve acquired some helpful tips to pack smart and travel in style….

1. Invest in Good-Quality Luggage

I couldn’t leave home without my carry-on from AwayTravel’s new Pop & Suki collaboration line. It’s affordable, functional and fabulous in pink!  It even includes an internal lock system and charging dock, which means less items to worry about bringing on my packing list!

2. Pick a Color Scheme

When I’m on vacation, the last thing I want to stress about is what I’m going to wear. Sticking with one color scheme for your outfits makes packing easier by narrowing down your wardrobe, and it also allows pieces to be interchangeable for plenty of outfit choices while you’re away.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces I’ll be bringing this trip:

Black Upton Off Shoulder Dress – Acler

Stripe Print Rosa Top- Milly

Woven Drawstring Tote- Loeffler Randall

You can never go wrong in black & white, but a great way to add a pop of color is in your swimwear and cover-ups.  I’m LOVING these by Tommy Bahama!

Pearl Twist-Front Bandeau Swim Dress

3. Choose Neutral Shoes

When choosing shoes to bring, you want something that’s versatile and goes with anything. I always go with black and nude, choosing one dressy shoe to wear at night and one casual shoe for the beach and daytime activities.

4. Have Your Travel Day Outfit Planned Ahead and Ready to Go

Choose something with layers that you can take on and off in any temperature. I may be leaving from cold and dreary New York, but the minute I land in Mexico I’ll be ready for tank tops and sandals. I chose this long vest to keep me comfortable while traveling, and I also pack a change of shoes in my carry-on for easy access.

5. Organize with Packing Cubes

I swear by these! They are the best way to help me keep my luggage items in order and not over-pack.
